Helen Foster-Grime: A Hardworking Candidate for the North West of England

Helen Foster-Grime is a hardworking and successful campaigner for the Liberal Democrats. She has been shortlisted as one of the Liberal Democrats proposed candidates for the European Parliamentary Elections in 2009.

Make Helen your No. 1 choice for the Lib Dems in the North West of England

Helen is a Lib Dem Councillor in the Bramhall North Ward of Stockport. The Liberal Democrats hold the majority on Stockport Council, but until this year the two Bramhall wards were the stronghold of the Tories, who had held all six council seats for over 10 years. Through sheer hard work and non-stop campaigning Helen has over-turned a near 1,000 vote Tory lead in just two elections! In 2006 she polled 2,269 votes, missing out by just 80 votes. However, through continued campaigning on local issues Helen was able to increase her vote in 2007 to 2,525 to win the seat for the Lib Dems. Not only was this the only seat to change hands in Stockport, increasing the Liberal Democrat majority still further, but it was also the HIGHEST VOTE FOR ANY LIBERAL DEMOCRAT CANDIDATE IN THE WHOLE OF GREATER MANCHESTER.

Helen has proved that she is a candidate who can make a REAL DIFFERENCE. Her tireless work will be invaluable for the campaiging required for the European elections in 2009. The Lib Dems currently have two MEPs in the North-West. However, likely changes to the number of MEPs in the North-West (reducing from 9 to 8) mean that our efforts will have to be significantly increased to retain or grow this number. Helen promises that she will campaign with vigour and enthusiasm across the region for our common goal of increasing our representation in Brussels.

Helen's Bramhall North Ward forms part of the Cheadle Parliamentary Constituency. She is actively involved in supporting our Liberal Democrat M.P. for Cheadle, Mark Hunter, including holding combined street surgeries, continued door-step canvassing, and helping to ensure that we are ready for whenever a General Election is called. Helen is also supportive to our Liberal Democrat M.P.s in the adjoining constituencies of Hazel Grove and Withington.

By-Election in Penrith East Mon 15th Oct 2007 On Sunday 14th October, Helen was campaigning across Cumbria. She visited Penrith with her husband Steven to help with the campaign to elect Patricia Bell to Cumbria County Council. We wish retiring councillor Mike Ash the very best.
